The investigation revealed a conspiracy involving the five suspects, who traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa on June 22nd to locate and kill Jones. The motive is linked to an ongoing feud between rival gangs in Jacksonville, with Jones being a documented member of the “6 Block” gang and the suspects associated with the rival “ATK” and “1200” gangs.

On June 23rd, Chance and Andrews tracked Jones and his entourage, communicating with the other suspects, who then carried out the shooting at the Home 2 Suites, killing Jones and injuring three others. The identified shooters are Rashad Murphy, Sean Gathright, and Davion Murphy.

“The City of Tampa is not where you want to come to settle a dispute. You will be arrested, you will be charged, and you will be prosecuted. Our detectives remain committed to holding all those responsible accountable for their actions,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “This case is a prime example of the cooperation and collaboration of all those in law enforcement to bring dangerous criminals to justice. We hope these arrests provide some closure for the victims’ families and loved ones.”
