Quincy Allen, a serial killer who claimed to have embarked on a killing spree after growing impatient waiting for his first assignment as a mafia hitman, has been resentenced to life in prison without parole.
Allen, 44, had previously been sentenced to death for the 2002 murders of Dale Hall and Jedediah Harr in South Carolina. However, the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the sentence in 2022, citing evidence of Allen’s mental illness and abusive childhood.

Allen had confessed to the killings, claiming that he began his spree after a fellow inmate promised him a job as a hitman for the mafia. He had already been serving a life sentence in North Carolina for the murders of two other people.
Prosecutors, after consulting with the victims’ families, decided not to seek the death penalty again and agreed to a life sentence. Allen, in turn, agreed to waive all rights to appeal.
