HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Otis Kitchen II, the 45-year-old principal of Town and Country Elementary School, was arrested for DUI and fleeing to elude law enforcement on July 26, 2024.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies observed Kitchen driving erratically, nearly causing accidents, and running a red light.
When deputies attempted a traffic stop, Kitchen fled, leading them on a brief chase before parking in his garage. Upon exiting his vehicle, he exhibited clear signs of intoxication.

A breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of .142, nearly twice the legal limit. Kitchen was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI and fleeing to elude.
“Drinking and driving is not only irresponsible but also inexcusable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “It endangers the lives of everyone on the road. Our deputies acted swiftly to prevent a potentially tragic situation.”
