POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 38-year-old woman from Oregon was arrested Thursday at Love’s Travel Stop on US 27 in Davenport, Polk County, for multiple counts of theft.
The suspect, Sheila Swanson, was reported by store management for allegedly committing retail theft twice within a few hours.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies located Swanson in the cab of a semi-truck in the parking lot. The truck driver was unaware of Swanson’s actions and had agreed to give her a ride to San Francisco.

A check on Swanson’s record revealed an outstanding warrant from Oregon and a history of theft convictions, elevating the charges to felony petit theft.
Instead of a cross-country trip, Swanson was booked into the Polk County Jail.
