Timothy Franklin, 40, of Baton Rouge, has been sentenced to 160 months (over 13 years) in federal prison after being convicted on four counts of heroin distribution.

The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge John W. deGravelles, follows an extensive investigation by the Middle District Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).

Franklin’s guilty plea revealed his involvement in multiple controlled buys with a confidential source between February and July 2019.

During these transactions, Franklin sold varying amounts of heroin, totaling over 270 grams, in exchange for thousands of dollars. Law enforcement used audio and video recordings, as well as wiretaps, to gather evidence against Franklin.

This investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Drug Enforcement Administration and several local law enforcement agencies.

Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Jarreau, Deputy Chief of the Organized and Violent Crime Unit, prosecuted the case. Following his prison term, Franklin will be subject to three years of supervised release.
