Research indicates that such programs are highly effective, with a 98% rate of behavior change among violators and a 12% reduction in citations throughout the school year.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies will review the footage and license plate images. They will then issue warnings or citations to the vehicle’s registered owner.
The PCPS Safe Stop program utilizes state-of-the-art technology to automatically detect and record vehicles illegally passing stopped school buses. Law enforcement reviews the captured footage before issuing warnings or citations.
This initiative aims to foster a safer environment for students traveling to and from school by raising awareness and enforcing the law.
