Tampa Police Arrest Suspect In July 22nd Homicide

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police have arrested 36-year-old Dontarvis Singleton for the alleged murder of a 46-year-old man on July 22nd. The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1000 block of East Poinsettia Avenue and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Following a swift investigation, detectives identified Singleton as the suspect, noting a history of disputes between the two men. A 2007 Chevy Suburban believed to be involved in the crime was also identified.

Early Thursday morning, July 25th, officers located the Suburban and conducted a felony traffic stop. Singleton, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested and taken to Orient Road Jail.

The Tampa Police Department commends the detectives for their quick work in this case.

“I commend the swift and dedicated work of our detectives and officers in apprehending the suspect responsible for this senseless act of violence. Our hope is this quick arrest will provide a small sense of comfort for the family and loved ones of the victim,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “We will continue to work tirelessly to remove dangerous individuals from our streets and hold them accountable for their actions.”

Singleton has been charged with Premeditated First Degree Murder with a Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
