Andrew Brent Steel, a 33-year-old former resident of Detroit, Michigan, was sentenced to nine years in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release for drug trafficking charges.
The sentence was handed down by Senior United States District Court Judge David S. Cercone on July 18, 2024, after Steel pleaded guilty to the charges.
The investigation leading to Steel’s arrest and conviction involved multiple controlled purchases of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. At the time of his arrest, Steel was found in possession of the cellular phone used to coordinate these transactions.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan praised the collaborative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, and the Pennsylvania State Police for their investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Steel and his co-conspirators.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the dedication of law enforcement agencies to hold those involved accountable for their actions.
