A black bear, showing signs of stress and aggression, was sighted on Thursday near Highway 98 and County Road 83 in Santa Rosa Beach.
Walton County Sheriff’s deputies monitored the situation while Florida Fish and Wildlife officials responded to the area.
“Onlookers were trying to take selfies with the bear and he’s clearly not in the mood for pictures. The bear has shown signs of severe stress,” said Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

The public is strongly advised to keep their distance from the bear and avoid approaching it for selfies or other reasons.
If you spot a bear in Walton County, please report it to the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at (850)-892-8111 or contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
