WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Polk State College pitcher Aiden Butler has been selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 9th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. The 6-foot-6 right-hander had a standout sophomore season, earning All-Conference and All-State honors while leading the Eagles to the FCSAA Tournament.
Butler, a Tallahassee native, finished the 2024 season with an 8-4 record and a 3.67 ERA. He led Polk State in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, and complete games, ranking among the top pitchers in the state. He is currently representing Team USA at Baseball Week Haarlem in the Netherlands.

With this selection, Butler becomes the third Polk State player drafted in the past two years and the first pitcher drafted directly out of the college since 2021. He is the 14th player drafted under Head Coach Al Corbeil’s tenure and the highest pick since 2015.
Butler has signed with Florida State University but has until August 1st to decide whether to turn pro or return to Tallahassee for his junior year.
