A devastating three-vehicle crash on State Road 60 near the Lake Kissimmee South Boat ramp has left two people dead and several others injured.
The collision occurred around noon on Monday, July 16th, 2024. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 46-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale, veered into oncoming traffic while traveling westbound on SR-60.
The Silverado collided head-on with an eastbound Honda CRV, causing the CRV to spin and collide again with the Silverado. A Lexus ES, also traveling eastbound behind the CRV, was unable to avoid the collision and struck both vehicles before hitting a guardrail.

Tragically, two occupants of the Honda CRV, a 68-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman, both from Madison, Wisconsin, lost their lives in the crash. Another passenger in the CRV, an 85-year-old woman from Largo, Florida, sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the Silverado and two passengers from Fort Lauderdale, ages 36 and 77, received minor to serious injuries. The 19-year-old driver of the Lexus ES, from Port St. Lucie, Florida, also suffered minor injuries.

The FHP is currently investigating the cause of the crash. It is unclear why the Silverado crossed the centerline, but authorities are looking into all possible factors, including driver error, vehicle malfunction, or potential medical issues.
