PJ Whitaker, a 34-year-old postal employee, was indicted Thursday on two counts of mail destruction. The indictment alleges that Whitaker unlawfully secreted, destroyed, detained, delayed, and opened multiple mail parcels on two separate occasions in 2023.

Whitaker could face up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans emphasized that the indictment is merely an accusation and Whitaker is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
