TAMPA, Fla. – A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 11th, to celebrate the successful acquisition and revitalization of Armature Place Apartments, a 96-unit affordable housing complex located near Busch Gardens.
Through a collaborative effort, Hillsborough County and the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa (CDC of Tampa) have transformed Armature Place Apartments into a modern, affordable housing option for residents earning 80% or less of the Area Median Income.
The year-long project included extensive interior and exterior renovations, ranging from updated kitchens and bathrooms to new flooring, appliances, and HVAC systems. Additional improvements include enhanced landscaping, new sidewalks, and a new racquetball court for residents’ enjoyment.

Hillsborough County provided crucial funding of $16.2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, enabling CDC of Tampa to purchase and rehabilitate the property. This investment aligns with the County’s commitment to increasing affordable housing options and supporting community revitalization efforts.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Armature Place Apartments, located at 4131 E. Busch Blvd., Tampa, FL 33617. The event will feature representatives from CDC of Tampa, Hillsborough County officials, and other key stakeholders involved in the project.
