ORLANDO, Fla. – Elizabeth Carpenter, 44, of St. Cloud, has pleaded guilty to theft of government property, announced United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Carpenter faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and has agreed to forfeit $183,079.60, the proceeds of her criminal conduct. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
According to the plea agreement, Carpenter was employed as an accounting technician at Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center resort owned by the Department of Defense (DOD) located on Walt Disney World Resort property in Lake Buena Vista.
Between July 13, 2022, and March 19, 2024, Carpenter exploited her position and access to guest accounts to refund portions of room payments to her personal credit card accounts.

Carpenter engaged in over 650 unauthorized transactions, accumulating approximately $183,079.60 in illicit gains.
The Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, Defense Criminal Investigative Service investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Tyrie K. Boyer is prosecuting the case.
