Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston successfully removed a Brazilian fugitive who was wanted for rape in his home country.

“Marcio Dos Santos attempted to flee a rape charge in Brazil by hiding out in Connecticut,” said ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons. “He posed a threat to the residents of our community, and we could not allow that to continue. The men and women of ERO Boston are the best in the business at finding noncitizens who don’t want to be found. We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing the most egregious noncitizen offenders from New England.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection admitted Dos Santos into the United States in Newark, New Jersey, on March 11, 2022. Dos Santos violated the terms of his admittance.

Deportation officers with ERO Boston’s Hartford field office arrested him on Feb. 14 near his residence in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They served him with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge.

On March 25, 2024, the DOJ immigration judge ordered Dos Santos removed from the United States to Brazil.

Deportation officers with ERO Boston removed Dos Santos from the United States to Brazil on May 31 and transferred custody to Brazilian authorities.
