RUSKIN, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) advises against swimming or other water activities at Bahia Beach (2513 W Shell Point Rd, Ruskin, FL 33570) due to elevated levels of bacteria.

Testing conducted on Wednesday, July 2nd, revealed bacteria levels exceeding the safe threshold for recreational water established by the Florida Department of Health. The presence of these bacteria increases the risk of illness in swimmers.

DOH-Hillsborough urges the public to avoid swimming, wading, or other water activities at Bahia Beach until the advisory is lifted. This advisory will remain in effect until test results confirm bacteria levels fall below the safe limit.
