Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 or 85/15)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Don’t overwork the meat.
- Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a thin patty, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
- Place a tablespoon of cheese and crumbled bacon in the center of 4 of the patties.
- Top each cheese-stuffed patty with one of the remaining patties. Pinch the edges together to seal well, ensuring no cheese leaks out during cooking.
- Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium heat.
- If grilling, cook the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium-well doneness.
- If using a skillet, cook the burgers for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Toast the hamburger buns if desired.
- Serve the stuffed burgers on the toasted buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise.
Tips:
- You can use any cheese you like for this recipe, such as pepper jack, mozzarella, or Swiss.
- If you don’t have bacon on hand, you can use cooked sausage or ham instead.
- For a spicier burger, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- To make sure the burgers are cooked through, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The burgers should reach 160°F for medium-well doneness.
- Get creative with your toppings! Add some grilled onions, mushrooms, or avocado for extra flavor.
Enjoy these delicious and juicy stuffed hamburgers!
