A 32-year-old Florida man, Daniel Michael Reece, was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly assaulting his roommate with a brick and pellet gun.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call on Bluegill Lane in Cudjoe Key around 8:59 p.m.
The 56-year-old victim reported that Reece, his roommate, had arrived home intoxicated and an argument ensued. The situation escalated when Reece allegedly struck the victim in the head with a large rock or paver, causing him to fall. Reece then reportedly retrieved a pellet gun and shot the victim in the nose.

Upon arrival of the Sheriff’s Office, Reece fled the scene by jumping into a nearby canal. Deputies were able to apprehend him and take him into custody.
The victim was transported to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island with non-life-threatening injuries.
Reece faces two counts of aggravated battery.
