BRANDON, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is on a residential structure fire scene in Brandon.

At 10:08 AM on Friday, multiple 911 calls came into the dispatch center from people reporting smoke and flames coming from a 2-story house on Derbywood Drive.

Responding engines could see a column of smoke from a distance, calling this a working fire.

The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke and flames showing from the structure. The house next door began to catch fire just after arrival, and a second alarm was called.

Crews quickly suppressed the second house fire, then focused efforts on the primary residence. Firefighters attacked the fire from the inside and then transitioned to an aerial operation to completely suppress the blaze.

Firefighters conducted searches of both houses, but no occupants were found. There have been no injuries to civilians or first responders.

“Our Fire Investigations Unit is on the scene working on the investigation,” said HCFR.
