HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Two people suffered injuries in a crash that happened around 3:16 am on Friday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford Mustang, driven by a 22-year-old Wimauma man, was traveling eastbound on I-4 at a high rate of speed. 

Troopers say a Cadillac Deville, driven by a 73-year-old Auburndale woman, had been traveling eastbound on I-4, became disabled earlier, and was parked along the outside shoulder of the highway west of Branch Forbes Road.

As the Mustang approached the Cadillac, the driver failed to control the car, it departed the travel lanes and collided with the parked Cadillac. 

The Mustang then traveled to the grass shoulder and overturned while the Cadillac was pushed forward into the grass shoulder. 

The 73-year-old woman, who was seated in the vehicle at impact, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Mustang was also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
