In March, the Biden administration enacted a rule that allowed nine federal agencies to discriminate against religious organizations and made it more difficult for them to collaborate with the government.

The law imposes burdensome rules on religious organizations, forcing many faith-based charities to choose between obtaining government cash and upholding their essential convictions.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and colleagues presented a bipartisan resolution Thursday of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act to reverse President Biden’s discriminatory rule and defend religious freedom.

“Faith-based charities have long been essential partners to the federal government, providing crucial ‘boots on the ground’ support in many initiatives. The Biden Administration’s rule threatens to sideline these charities and force a radical social agenda on them,” said Rubio.

“The Biden administration will stop at nothing to force its woke agenda and political preferences on the American people, especially targeting people of faith. I’m grateful for the incredible work faith-based charities do in Florida and across the nation to support our communities when they need it the most. I won’t allow Joe Biden to threaten them with rules that force them to choose between helping others and staying true to their beliefs,” said Florida Sen. Rick Scott.

In January, Rubio warned that the proposal opened the door to federal discrimination against faith-based organizations and urged the Senate to act on his Lifting Local Communities Act, which would make it easier for faith-based organizations to apply for and receive government grants and other forms of funding without fear of arbitrary limitations or vindictive lawsuits.
