LAKELAND, Fla. – A Lakeland man was killed in a crash that happened on Thursday, and the Lakeland Police Department is investigating.
On Thursday at approximately 11:36 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash involving a white Hyundai SUV and a black Suzuki motorcycle in the 2100 block of East Edgewood Drive.
Just before the crash, the Suzuki was headed westbound on East Edgewood Drive, and the Hyundai was exiting a parking lot in that area from the north side of the roadway.

The Hyundai proceeded from the parking lot across the westbound lanes of travel, coming to a stop in the inside lane and waiting for eastbound traffic. The motorcycle then crashed into the Hyundai, which separated the driver from the motorcycle.
The Lakeland Police Department Patrol Units, Polk County Fire Rescue, and the Lakeland Fire Department all arrived on the scene to begin life-saving measures.

The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old Lakeland man, was transported to Lakeland Regional Health where he was pronounced deceased by medical professionals. The driver of the Hyundai did not sustain any injuries.
The roadway was shut down for approximately two hours to process the scene for the ongoing investigation.
