The fire was completely under control at 1:43 p.m. A family dog was treated and transported to an emergency animal hospital. The fire caused extensive damage to the mobile home making the residence a total loss and Red Cross was called to assist the family.

The origin of the fire is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshall’s Office. HCFES responded with 3 fire engines, 4 ALS medic units, 2 water tenders, Fire Corps, 2 Battalion Chiefs, and 2 Administrative Chiefs for a total of 21 personnel.

“HCFES would like to remind the community change smoke detector batteries twice a year and conduct a routine fire risk assessment on your homes,” HCFES said in a statement.
