Pasco County Clerk’s Office Wins Prestigious Award, For 40th Consecutive Year

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Clerk & Comptroller Nikki Alvarez-Sowles, Esq. announced that for the 40th year, her office received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The Association recently reviewed the Office’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending on September 30, 2022.

Matt Lazar is the Clerk’s Office Finance Department Director. “This is the highest form of recognition that can be achieved in governmental accounting and financial reporting,” said Lazar. “And (it) is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of all the constitutional offices within Pasco County.”

Clerk Nikki Alvarez-Sowles echoed Lazar’s comments. “It is an honor to be recognized by GFOA with these distinguished awards for our financial reporting,” said Alvarez-Sowles. “Thank you to my team in the Finance Department for their hard work in helping our Office and the County achieve this recognition. The citizens of Pasco can take great pride in knowing the reporting of County finances are being done at the highest level of transparency and excellence.” 

The ACFR is judged by GFOA’s impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program. 

That includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read this report.
