President Joe Biden is refusing to grant Secret Service protection to one presidential candidate who has very personal reasons to seek it: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Kennedy, a former Democrat running as an independent, ripped Biden after learning that Republican candidate Nikki Haley was granted federal protection, despite her trailing big-time in the polls to former President Donald Trump.
In a lengthy post on X, Kennedy accused the Biden administration of “double standards” for denying him.

The candidate cited polling that showed he pulls down 24% support in battleground states and that 34% of respondents say they “could see themselves voting for me.” That translates to roughly 50 million Americans possibly backing Kennedy.
“Nikki Haley’s polling is a fraction of mine,” Kennedy noted.
But the polling also tends to show that Kennedy steals support more from Biden than he does from Trump. Trump’s lead in polls increases in some cases when Kennedy is added to the mix.
“While I’m happy she’ll be protected and publicly supported her request, double standards abound,” he said of Haley.
“My campaign first requested Secret Service protection in May 2023 with a 63-page declaration. We still have a current request pending. My request is the first time in 55 years a candidate has ever been denied. The Biden administration is the sole outlier to turn down a request for Secret Service coverage,” Kennedy continued.

“The will of the people is being thwarted by blatant corruption from Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas and the Biden Administration.”
“Refusing me Secret Service protection is a way to drain my campaign funds and stop the movement we’re building together. They want us out of the race by any means necessary. This is blatant election interference,” he added.
“Let me be clear: I have immense respect for the Secret Service. This corruption is coming from much higher up.”
Kennedy also cited a report by the conservative group Judicial Watch last week, which uncovered documents indicating Mayorkas and his “cronies” were “deliberately refusing” Kennedy protection by the Secret Service – despite credible threats.
“Unfortunately for the establishment and those who skulk around in back rooms, I’m not going anywhere. Our movement is growing stronger, and our coalition is building,” he posted.
“I am more steadfast than ever about winning in November. If you give me a sword and some ground to stand on, I will give you your country back.”
Kennedy, of course, also has personal reasons to be ill at ease about Biden rejecting his request.
Kennedy’s father, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and uncle, President John F. Kennedy, were both assassinated.
