Florida Republican Rep. Cory Mills seeks to yank the taxpayers’ rug right out from under left-wing Atlanta-based District Attorney Fani Willis.

Mills on Wednesday was set to introduce a bill that would deny federal funding to “any” state or local chief prosecutor if the prosecutor or his or her staff members are “convicted for engaging in corruption or any other unlawful activity,” according to the Washington Examiner, which first reported on Mills’ measure.

Mills’ bill is entitled the “Against Federal Funds for Allowing Inappropriate Relationships Act,” or AFFAIR Act.

That refers to the relationship between Willis, a Democrat, and her married lover, Nathan Wade, whom she hired to prosecute former President Donald Trump for election fraud.

Willis has paid Wade roughly $650,000 in legal fees, some of which went for private travel and other expenses tied to their personal relationship.

Pressure is mounting on Willis in Atlanta and Washington over the affair.

In the nation’s capital, for example, as the Tampa Free Press reported last week, GOP lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee have promised to hold hearings on whether Willis wrongfully spent a $488,000 federal grant on personal expenses for herself and her team.

The whistleblower in Willis’ office was fired two months after she raised concerns about the misspent funding.

In a letter to Willis containing a subpoena demanding documents about the grant, committee Chairman Jim Jordan wrote, “These allegations raise serious concerns about whether you were appropriately supervising the expenditure of federal grant funding allocated to your office and whether you took actions to conceal your office’s unlawful use of federal funds.”

In a statement to the Examiner, Congressman Mills noted, “Not only was Fani Willis’ relationship with Nathan Wade extremely inappropriate and creates concerns around a conflict of interest, but it also potentially shows violations of bias against political opposition, and lawfare for election interference.”

“Under no circumstance should federal funds be sent to a state or local office if there is unlawful and unethical activity taking place,” he added.

“Our nation was founded on the steadfast tenets that liberty and justice — including the fair and equal application of the law — are crucial to ensuring the preservation of our constitutional republic,” Mills continued.

“I’m proud to introduce the AFFAIR Act to ensure American taxpayer dollars will not be misappropriated or weaponized due to unlawful and unethical activities.”

Willis has refused to step down because of the affair of the potential misuse of the grant.
