SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the January 17 death of an in-custody subject following an arrest by the Venice Police Department.

Robb M. Wallin, 71, was arrested on January 16, 2024, by the Venice Police Department for Violation of Parole stemming from a prior charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Paramedics transported the subject to Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) due to his poor health and unkempt state at the time of his arrest. Venice Police transferred custody to sheriff’s office deputies due to Wallin’s length of treatment and stay at SMH.
