Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green has threatened to get rid of another Republican House speaker if the current one goes along with an alleged deal on illegal immigration between Senate GOP moderates and Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
The Georgia Republican told Fox News on Sunday that she would move to oust GOP Speaker Mike Johnson if he supports the “amnesty deal” being floated as a compromise between Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Lankford and Schumer.
“It’s really an amnesty deal where Democrats are going to bring in millions and millions of illegals and turn them into Democrat voters,” said Greene. “Their plan is to replace Americans with millions and millions of illegal aliens.”

Greene also ripped the leadership of the Senate Republicans for cooking up this plan.
“They’ve been the best possible senators for [President] Joe Biden that you could ever expect to see out there,” she said of Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and his leadership team.
According to Fox News, the immigration plan breaks down as follows:
- 5,000 new legal immigrants a day
- 50,000 additional green cards a year
- Work permits for adult children for those immigrants with temporary visas for work
- Work permits for every illegal immigrant released from custody
- Taxpayer-funded lawyers to represent unaccompanied children and those with mental disabilities
- Restrictions on parole for those caught entering the U.S. between designated points of entry.
Under the plan, the U.S. would not even begin deportation procedures until the total of illegals tops the 5,000-per-day mark for seven consecutive days.
In theory, Greene noted, America would be forced to allow in 1.8 million illegals a year with no effort to send them back at all.
Greene also told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that the Lankford-Schumer plans dovetail with another package of $60 billion in fresh aid to Ukraine, also a top Democratic priority.
“The border crisis is a national security crisis that Americans are sick and tired and fed up with,” Greene added.
It should be the duty of anyone elected to Congress to make national security their priority. And this deal, which would add legitimacy to the already record tidal wave of illegal immigrants crashing the southern border, does not make America more secure.
Greene said the country cannot afford another $60 billion for Ukraine.
“Our country is broke. We’re like a corporation on the verge of bankruptcy, with $34 trillion in debt,” she noted.
Accordingly, Greene said she told Johnson she would move to boot him if he tried to ram through a plan to bless the Senate immigration proposal and give Ukraine more aid.
“We in the House, we aren’t going for it,” she said, adding that if any Republicans seek to work and vote with Democrats to pass the immigration plan, “good luck in their primary elections and good luck getting re-elected.”
Under House rules put in place by former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, any House member can move to vacate the speaker’s post and seek majority support for that.
Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz used that rule to lead the effort to oust McCarthy last year after he failed to live up to promises made during the lengthy battle to elect him speaker.
