The 2020 season was a memorable one throughout Tampa Bay as Tom Brady capped his first season with the Bucs by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at Raymond James Stadium.

It was also a memorable year in Cleveland. The Browns went 11-5 and made the playoffs for the first time in 18 years. Leading the resurgence was Baker Mayfield, who had a career-best 95.9 rating while throwing for 3,563 yards, 28 touchdowns and only eight interceptions.

While the regular season was memorable, what followed was a rarity. The Browns traveled to Pittsburgh to face their fellow AFC North resident, and the 12-4 division champs, in a wild card game. A 48-37 win over the Steelers was the Brownies’ first playoff victory in 26 years and the only one for the current version of the NFL team, which dates to 1999. (The Browns are in Houston for a wild card game Saturday.)

The Browns took a 28-0 lead after one quarter and the final score was as close as the Steelers would get. Mayfield threw three touchdown passes, including 40 yards to both Jarvis Landry and Nick Chubb. The third-year quarterback completed 21-of-34 passes for 263 yards with no picks.

The win over Pittsburgh sent the Browns to Kansas City for a divisional playoff matchup. Mayfield engineered an 18-play, 75-yard touchdown drive spanning the third and fourth quarters that brought Cleveland to within 22-17. However, the Browns stalled on their final possession and the Chiefs were able to run out the clock. Mayfield completed 23-of-37 passes for 204 yards, one TD and one pick.

That would be it for Mayfield’s playoff career, at least until Monday night’s game against the visiting Eagles. His two-game totals: 44-for-71 (61.9%), 467 yards, four TDs and one INT.
