Rep. Matt Gaetz on Tuesday demanded answers as to why the House IT team was censoring The Gateway Pundit, a conservative news website.

As the Tampa Free Press reported last week, Gaetz was fuming when he discovered access to TGP was blocked on congressional computers, including on laptops that lawmakers can carry with them.

“I don’t know who thought that was an appropriate action. But we’re gonna get to the bottom of it,” Gaetz said at the time. “We’re not going to have the House censoring our access to conservative news and to conservative analysis.”

A screenshot of the error message declaring the block on TGP noted that it was inaccessible according to an unspecified House “policy.” TGP has been off limits for roughly three weeks.

On Tuesday, according to TGP, Gaetz sent a letter to House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil seeking answers.

“Congressional staff and members have been restricted from accessing The Gateway Pundit on the House network for weeks,” Gaetz wrote. “It is unclear to me why this determination was made with regard to The Gateway Pundit.”

Gates asked Steil for answers to three questions”

  • What policy did TGP violate?
  • Have any other news outlets been blocked and if so, which ones?
  • When will access to TGP be restored?

TGP further reported on Tuesday that tipsters have shared that the Defense Department and other federal agencies have also denied access to it.

TGP notes that it is one of the “most prominent grassroots websites and is supportive of President [Donald] Trump and the MAGA agenda,”  adding that it is also the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit over censorship against the Biden administration that is expected to go before the Supreme Court next year.
