LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday appointed Ashley Bell Barnett to the state university system’s Board of Governors, after she also was reappointed by DeSantis in recent months to serve on the Polk State College Board of Trustees and the Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board.
The reappointments came in June and August. Bell Barnett, whose mother is state Rep. Melony Bell, R-Fort Meade, previously chaired the United Way of Central Florida board.
The appointment to the university system board will need confirmation from the Florida Senate.
