Florida Man Charged After Firing Flare Gun At Fellow Boater

A 56-year-old Florida man was arrested Tuesday after shooting a flare gun at another man on the water just off Stock Island. There were no reported injuries.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Andrew McKee Parsons was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

The 31-year-old male victim was bully-netting near the Key Haven boat ramp at approximately 8:30 p.m. when Parsons yelled at him to stay clear of his sailboat.

The victim told Parsons he would continue to stay clear of Parsons’ anchor lines, but Parsons screamed at the victim again and fired a flare gun toward him.

Parsons then threatened to shoot the victim with a real gun.
