Florida Department Of Law Enforcement Investigates Death Of Suspect In Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a death that occurred while Sarasota Police were taking a subject, a white male, 50, into protective custody.

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a death that occurred while Sarasota Police were taking a subject, a white male, 50, into protective custody.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m. Sunday, Sarasota Police responded to the 1600 block of Devonshire Lane, Sarasota, for a report of a suspicious person.

The subject died while in custody, police say.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the in-custody death, which is standard protocol. The subject’s name is protected under Marsy’s Law.

Police say no further information can be released at this time.
