TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue battled a residential structure fire early Saturday morning in Tampa.
Officials say 911 calls came into the dispatch center at 1:32 A.M. Saturday from callers advising the rear of a residence at the 4500 block of Knollwood Street in Tampa was on fire.
The first arriving engine confirmed fire was visible from the rear of the building.
Crews stretched hose lines to fight the fire and were able to extinguish the blaze within 15 minutes. The fire was in a detached apartment behind the main residence. Crews were able to protect the main residence, limiting its exposure to the blaze coming from the nearby structure.

Additional crews conducted primary and secondary searches, assisted with water supply, and performed additional firefighting operations.
The occupant had evacuated the structure before our arrival and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
There were no other occupants inside the structure. There were no injuries to first responders.
