A 16-year-old Florida boy was arrested after a social media threat of violence against Golden Gate High School, according to investigators.
According to Florida Statute 836.10, the former student of Collier County Public Schools is accused of writing threats to kill, cause bodily harm, carry out a mass shooting, or commit an act of terrorism.
This is a second-degree felony.
Detectives found the threat to be untrue after conducting their investigation. Additionally, according to detectives, the teenager acknowledged writing and sending the threat but denied having any plans or intentions to hurt anyone.

“Make no mistake – I have zero tolerance for threats involving our schools,” said Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk. “Actions have consequences. If you make this type of threat in Collier County we will arrest you.”
“School safety remains our top priority. If you see something of concern, don’t spread it, report it,” said CCSO.
