TAMPA, Fla. – After the loss to the Lions, Bucs QB Baker Mayfield said the offense needs to get ‘pissed off.’ On Wednesday, head coach Todd Bowles agreed with Mayfield.
“In certain instances, we should be pissed off every week,” Bowles said. “I think we are pissed off.
The Bucs offense has been inconsistent and has not been able to establish a ground game, at all. Last week in the 20-6 loss to the Lions, Tampa Bay rushed 16 times for just 46 yards.

Mayfield wasn’t sharp either, missing on several passes, throwing for 206 yards with one interception and no touchdowns. After he’s had a couple of days now to think about it, does Mayfield still feel the same way?
“Like I mentioned, get pissed off but also take pride in your work,” Mayfield said. “It’s about executing and doing your job each play. Today, we had a good practice. There wasn’t any rah-rah speech.”
The Bucs host the Falcons team also coming off a loss and also has been inconsistent. Falcons QB Desmond Ridder was picked off three times in a 24-16 loss to the Washington Commanders.
It’s an NFC South showdown on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. Bowles doesn’t want to put too much emphasis on the rivalry; just play better. Don’t make too many mistakes. Oh, and get pissed off.

“I just think we have to play smart and we have to play more disciplined football,” Bowles said. “As far as understanding what we have to do and going out, everybody has to do their job. We have to coach it better and play it better. All of that includes and entails being pissed off.”
