Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois launched a nonprofit Wednesday in an effort to fight “extremism” and push pro-abortion legislation across the country, according to an announcement on YouTube.

The 501(c)(4) nonprofit, Think Big America, is a spinoff of Pritzker’s 2018 campaign slogan “Think Big” and is focused on pro-abortion advocacy following the overturn of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, according to Politico.

Pritzker claimed it was a “pivotal moment” for the country, saying the nonprofit would continue the “success” of abortion legislation in Illinois in other states fighting “right-wing extremists,” according to the video.

“Our nation is at a crossroads,” Pritzker said. “Over the last few years the far right agenda has only become more extreme. … This is a pivotal moment in America, that’s why I’m proud to announce ‘Think Big America,’ an organization dedicated to safeguarding reproductive rights and standing up against the right-wing extremists who want to take us backwards.”

In January, Pritzker signed an omnibus bill codifying the right to an abortion and protecting physicians who provide abortions in Illinois but are illegal in other states where they practice, according to The Associated Press. The bill also protected doctors who provided sex-change surgeries and other medical procedures.

Pritzker’s nonprofit is looking to help efforts in states such as Ohio, Nevada and Arizona, which are weighing potential abortion amendments that would go on the ballot for voters, according to Politico. The organization is also reportedly looking into expanding its mission in the future to focus on “book bans” and transgender medical procedures alongside abortions.

Pritzker argued that “women’s health, abortion rights, the right to choose” are “fundamental rights” for Americans and should not be dependent on where someone lives or their income, according to the video. The governor is reportedly the sole funder of the foundation, but has not disclosed the sum of his donations and did not clarify whether or not future donors would be identified to the public.

Think Big America’s board of directors includes Desirée Rogers, business mogul and former social secretary for President Barack Obama, Democratic state Rep. Margaret Croke, and Michelle Harris, a member of Chicago’s city council, according to Politico. Mike Ollen, Pritzker’s former campaign manager, will also help run the nonprofit.

Pritzker’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
