In a letter delivered on Friday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, a Republican from Tennessee, urged President Joe Biden to fire National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
Blackburn denounced Sullivan’s role in the Iran nuclear deal and charged that Sullivan “routinely” misled the administration about security dangers. Blackburn asserted that Sullivan will “hinder” the government’s actions as the Biden administration proceeds to address Hamas’ unexpected attack on Israel.
“We cannot have someone with his notable history of poor decision-making, and lack of critical insights, as the most senior advisor to the President on our nation’s security matters,” Blackburn said in the letter.

Sullivan On Sunday
In the midst of the Israel-Hamas war, President Joe Biden has “no higher priority” than freeing American captives, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday.
“He will make hard decisions to get American hostages home,” Sullivan said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Sullivan continued by saying that neither a comprehensive list of all the Americans taken prisoner nor the precise locations of where they are being detained are known to the United States.
According to Sullivan, there is no current conversation about a prisoner swap; instead, the United States is trying to find ways to work with other nations to free its hostages. Sullivan pointed out that the Biden administration has dispatched captive experts to confer and coordinate with Israeli officials.
Since Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel, the State Department has acknowledged that at least 15 Americans are still missing and that 29 Americans have died.
