TAMPA, Fla. – Alter Ego, a music-focused cocktail lounge, will open in Water Street Tampa in early 2024.
Located in Asher, 1050 Water St., Alter Ego is locally owned and operated by the Proper House Group and critically acclaimed Chef Ferrell Alvarez, and partners Chon Nguyen and Ty Rodriguez.
“Alter Ego will be a music-forward cocktail lounge, offering an energetic vibe and proper, soulful hospitality,” said Ferrell Alverez, chef, partner, and co-owner of Proper House Group. “The space represents a distinct design contrast to our adjacent sibling concept Ash. Boasting a curated musical experience alongside a monochromatic design that includes intimate seating as well as social spaces.”
Alter Ego will be Proper House Group and Alvarez’s fifth endeavor in the Water Street Tampa neighborhood, joining the Italian-inspired restaurant Ash, Gallito Taqueria, Dang Dude, and Lunch Lady at Sparkman Wharf, which will be replaced by another Proper House Group concept later this fall.

Proper House Group and Alvarez’s team are also behind the acclaimed restaurant Rooster & the Till in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood, a recent recipient of Michelin’s Bib Gourmand Award.

Recently, SPP announced that Water Street Tampa, the transformative new lifestyle destination in Downtown Tampa achieved the WELL Community Certification at the Gold level, becoming the first neighborhood in North America to receive the prestigious distinction.
Awarded by the International WELL Building Institute, the certification celebrates Water Street Tampa’s successful integration of design and policy decisions that promote health and well-being across all aspects of the neighborhood.
