St. Petersburg Man Charged After Attacking Trolley Driver

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Police have arrested Obdulio Chacon, 46, for attacking a PSTA driver on his parked trolley in downtown St. Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Police have arrested Obdulio Chacon, 46, for attacking a PSTA driver on his parked trolley in downtown St. Petersburg.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority driver, whose name is being withheld at this time, was on break near the entrance to the St. Pete Pier.

When he getting back on the trolley to continue his route, the driver was battered by an unknown man who has been identified as Chacon.

The bus driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Evidence collected during the investigation led detectives to identify Chacon as a suspect.

The Largo Police Department assisted in making the arrest.

Chacon was questioned by St. Petersburg police detectives before he was transported to the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery.
