60-Year-Old Plant City Man Struck And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Ford F-150

PLANT CITY, Fla. - A 60-year-old man has died after police say a suspect in a F-150 collided with the man and then fled the scene.

PLANT CITY, Fla. – A 60-year-old man has died after police say a suspect in an F-150 collided with the man and then fled the scene.

According to police, on Friday at approximately 6:35 p.m. the Plant City Police Department was dispatched to a hit and run traffic crash fatality involving a bicyclist versus a vehicle.

The bicyclist was traveling westbound on Jim Johnson Rd. in the area of Jap Tucker Rd when a pickup truck described by witnesses to be a gray in color, late model Ford F-150 pickup truck struck the bicyclist from the rear.

After striking the bicyclist, the vehicle fled the scene failing to stop to leave information or render aid. The driver of the truck could only be described by witnesses as a middle-aged Hispanic male.

Plant City Fire Rescue responded to the crash scene and rendered aid to the bicyclist but was later pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent was identified as 60-year-old, Robert Scott Cook.

The suspect vehicle will have front passenger side damage and will be missing a portion of the front grille which surrounds the front passenger side headlight.

There may be additional damage to the vehicle due to a witness account that the same vehicle struck a pole near Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Station 25 located on E. Trapnell Rd. east of Clemons. Rd.
