Estimated insured losses from Hurricane Idalia neared $169 million Tuesday, as reported claims and damages continued to increase.
Data posted on the state Office of Insurance Regulation website showed estimated insured losses of $168.59 million, based on 18,353 reported claims.
As a comparison, that was up from $156.4 million in estimated insured losses Sunday, based on 17,472 claims. The Tuesday data included 12,622 claims for residential property damage, with other claims for such things as auto damage.

The data also showed that 2,491 claims had been closed with payments, while 2,131 had been closed without payments.
Meanwhile, Craig Sakraida, a Citizens Property Insurance Corp. vice president, said Tuesday that the state insurer had received “a little over” 2,000 claims from Idalia, which made landfall Aug. 30 in the Keaton Beach area of Taylor County before crossing through parts of rural North Florida.
