An 18-year-old Alabama man was sentenced to life behind bars for the 2019 murder of five family members.
Mason Sisk, 18, was sentenced on September 7, following his April conviction on four counts of capital murder for fatally shooting his father, stepmother, and three siblings in Limestone County, Alabama.
The victims included John Sisk (38), Mary Sisk (35), Kane (6), Rorrie (5), and Colson (6 months).
All five were shot in the head, according to court documents.

According to court documents, Sisk reported the incident to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office in September 2019, claiming he had heard shots upstairs while he was in the basement of the home, and when he ran upstairs, he heard footsteps and left the house.
However, deputies found discrepancies in his statements and subsequently obtained a confession from him.
Sisk also led investigators to the location where he had disposed of the murder weapon, a 9mm handgun, which was in the home illegally.
In November 2020, Sisk was charged with capital murder as an adult. He went to trial in 2022, but a mistrial was declared when new evidence was found on the victims’ phones.

Because Sisk was 14 years old when he committed these crimes, the sentencing options were limited.
The judge could only sentence him to either life in prison without the possibility of parole or life in prison with the possibility of parole after serving a minimum of 30 years.
