Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy unveiled a plan during a Thursday forum to shut down the “deep state,” including shuttering the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Department of Education and the FBI.

Recent polling shows former U.S. President Donald Trump continues to lead the pack in the Republican primary field, though one political outsider is surging in recent polling.

Some polls now show Vivek Ramaswamy in third place behind former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, with the Real Clear Politics average of polls showing him with 5.5% of the vote.

According to a recent poll from the Center for American Political Studies (CAPS) at Harvard University, Trump maintains support among the majority of Republican voters, while former pharmaceutical executive Vivek Ramaswamy is on the heels of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“Trump is a clear favorite in a prospective GOP primary despite losing some ground; DeSantis remains the runner-up but losing steam to Ramaswamy,” CAPS wrote.

According to the survey conducted on July 19 and 20, among 2,000 voters, the former president raked in 52 percent of conservatives.

That’s down seven points from last month but still a full 40 points ahead of the next leading Republican, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who stands at 12 percent.

“The more people get to know Ron DeSanctimonious, the lower his polls are going,” Trump wrote on Truth Social shortly after sharing the latest Harvard poll.

Yet Vivek Ramaswamy surged upwards eight points to 10 percent in the Harvard polling.

Ramaswamy, a former pharmaceutical executive with no political background, launched his campaign with $10 million of his own cash and recently announced he’s offering a 10 percent commission to supporters who fundraise for his 2024 campaign.

“A small oligopoly of political fundraisers is already making an ungodly amount of $$ on this election. It’s disgusting. I’m breaking up that cartel,” Ramaswamy said on ‘X’ formally known as Twitter.

“Today we’re launching the Vivek Kitchen Cabinet: starting today, *anyone* can fundraise for the Vivek 2024 campaign & make a 10% commission. If someone else is getting rich on this, it might as well be you. Let’s go,” he said.

According to the 37-year-old’s campaign, the Harvard poll was all that was remaining for Ramaswamy to meet the Republican National Committee’s fundraising and polling criteria for debate qualification.

“The RNC’s debate stage criteria are stringent but fair. I am a first-time candidate who started with very low name ID, no political donors, and no pre-existing fundraising lists. If an outsider can clear the bar, politically experienced candidates should be able to as well: if you can’t hit these metrics by late August, you have absolutely no chance of defeating Joe Biden in the general election,” Ramaswamy said.
