CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Fire & Rescue and Clearwater Police are currently on the scene of a small plane crash at Clearwater Airpark, 1000 N. Hercules Ave.
Police say the incident occurred just after noon.
“The pilot was taking off and was about 200 feet in the air when the engine appeared to lose power. He refused medical treatment on scene. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified,” said Clearwater Police.

The pilot was the only person on board and was not injured, according to police.
