Deputies in Alabama arrested a 61-year-old man who lived with his roommate’s corpse for several days. Leandrew Smith Jr., 61, is charged with abuse of corpse.
Deputies responded to 4th Avenue West in Sipsey, Alabama, about a dead body located in the home.
Investigators found that another person was living inside the home without reporting the death of the individual, who had been deceased for days.

“Treating a human corpse in a way that would outrage ordinary family sensibilities is a Class C Felony,” said Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
Justin Hagler told AL.com it was his father who was found dead. He said he last saw him on Tuesday, June 7. When he didn’t hear from him, Hagler went looking for his father in the three days that followed.
“He didn’t tell me my dad was in the house,’’ Hagler said.
“I’m furious,’’ Hagler told AL.com. “I’m going to get to the bottom of this.”
Leandrew Smith Jr., age 61 of Sipsey, was charged with Abuse of Corpse and taken to the county jail where he remained on a $10,000 cash only bond.
The District Attorney ordered an autopsy to be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
