HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla – A dozen people are facing charges after an undercover operation, highlighting the proactive efforts of law enforcement to combat human trafficking in the area.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Strategic Crime Suppression Section and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), conducted a successful hotel operation on May 16th and 17th.
The operation aimed to curb the demand for commercial sex workers by apprehending individuals engaging in the purchase of sexual acts within Hillsborough County. A total of twelve 12 people were arrested.

“This coordinated effort is part of Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister’s ongoing commitment to eradicate human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals within the community,” said HCSO.
By targeting those who engage in the purchase of sexual acts, law enforcement agencies are taking a decisive stand against the exploitation and victimization of individuals involved in human trafficking.
“We will not tolerate human trafficking in our county,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “By apprehending individuals involved in the purchase of sexual acts, we are sending a clear message that these illicit activities will not be tolerated. We are committed to protecting the victims and holding the perpetrators accountable.”
Among those arrested during the operation was Brandon Martinez, 28. Martinez was on probation in Polk County for Escape From Custody.
Additionally, Charles Fowler Jr., 36, was identified as a sex offender, already on an ankle monitor for charges related to Human Trafficking, including Lewd Lascivious Battery, Impregnation of a Child, Procuring a Minor for Prostitution, and Use of a Child to Promote Sexual Performance.
