ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 17-year-old, 12th grader at Gibbs High School has been charged with bringing a gun on school property.
At about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, St. Petersburg Police officers went to Gibbs High School, 850 34th St. S., to check on a call about a fight near the baseball fields.
When officers arrived, the fight had ended, but officers could spot the students involved.

One student was seen removing his backpack and handing it to another student. Officers immediately stepped in and took possession of the backpack.
A handgun was found inside the backpack and was found to be a stolen firearm.
Police took the student into custody.
