Deputies Looking For Man In Lakeland Who Tried To Steal Child’s Dirt Bike, Settled For A Helmet

LAKELAND, Fla. – Polk Sheriff’s detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify this suspect, who attempted to steal a kid’s dirt bike but settled for a helmet when he could not get the dirt bike into his car.

According to deputies, the theft occurred behind the Defy Trampoline Park at 6220 US Hwy 98 North in north Lakeland on Saturday afternoon, March 25, 2023.

According to deputies, the victim parked his dirt bike and locked it up.

When the boy’s mom came to pick him up that evening, they noticed that the lock was cut, the bike had been moved, and the black-and-red helmet on it was gone.

A witness provided this cell phone video of the theft and attempted theft.

The suspect is a white male in a silver Ford Focus hatchback.
