PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kelley Davis, 36, and Daniel Davis, 37, for aggravated child abuse.
The victim, under 10-years-of age, set a mattress on fire to attempt to escape a bedroom and, upon responding to the scene of the fire, deputies became aware of the child abuse.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to relay the preliminary information and said, “The child that was in this room, was under 10 years old. There were feces and urine everywhere. There were no games. There was no television. Nothing. There were a blanket and a mattress that had feces all over the place and had urine all over the place. This is horrible.”
What we know right now:
- Their were 5 children in the home, 4 girls, 1 boy.
- The child’s ages range from infant to 10-years-of age.
- The ‘guardians or parents’ of these children had locked the boy in a room, cut off all electricity to the boy, and covered the windows to prevent any sunlight from coming in.
- A sibling or another child in the home slipped matches under the boys’ door, and the boy was able to start a fire, which led to Emergency personnel to respond.
- We also know that the arrested suspects claimed that they didn’t like the boys’ behavior.
Sheriff Nocco said, “I know solitary confinement is much better treatment, a million times better treatment than what this child went through.”
